How do I get ahold of wholesale name brand clothing?

I am looking into starting my own retail shop, and I just have no idea how to get ahold of distributors and wholesalers. Is there a website I can look at for more information? Should I just start calling the companies I’m interested in? I have no idea where to even start!!
I am most interested in alternative apparel brands such as Hurley, Quicksilver, Volcom, and the like. Any help or ideas would be appreciated!
