Tips for Wearing Scarves Like a Celeb

December 30th, 2009 | Tags: , ,

You’ve probably seen just about every female celeb you love donning a scarf, no matter the season.  Nowadays, there is a much larger variety of scarves available.  We are no longer limited to just the itchy wool scarves that your parents made you wear back on those cold winter days.  There are a variety of scarves available that are even appropriate for spring or summer.  Nevertheless, to ensure that you don’t look foolish in a scarf, borrow the following scarf-wearing tips from celebs.

In Europe, women have been wearing large, slouchy scarves for as long as I can remember.  Perhaps the climate in some parts of Europe is more appropriate for wearing these kinds of scarves.  If you live in an area that’s hot and humid in the summertime, you should stick with wearing scarves in the spring, fall, and winter.  In cooler climates, however, a scarf can be a year-round fashion accessory that also helps to keep you cozy and warm.

Scarves are useful fashion items because they can add personality and pizazz to even the simplest of outfits.  Celebs like Jessica Alba, the Olsen twins, and Cameron Diaz pull the scarf look off very well.  Although celebs are obsessed with scarves made my top designers and brands, you can easily find scarves of a similar style at a lower price.

Different scarf styles that celebs love include extra long scarves, super skinny scarves, accent scarves, prayer scarves, and keffiyehs.  An extra long scarf paired with a blazer and skinny jeans is perfect for achieving the casual chic look.  Skinny scarves are ideal for cool fall weather because they fight off the cool breezes without overwhelming you with warmth.  Accent scarves are made of light material and are suitable for people who live in warm climates.  In warm areas, such as Southern California, celebs don’t actually NEED scarves, so they wear accent scarves to make a fashion statement.

Lately, celebs are into Hindu and Buddhist prayer scarves.  The spiritual fad has been big in Hollywood for the past few years.  Prayer scarves are traditional shawls or cloths that have mantras or prayers imprinted on them.  Keffiyehs are traditional headdresses worn by Arabs and Muslims.  Although a popular fashion item, keffiyehs have also generated a lot of controversy because they have come to represent Islamic militancy.

The great thing about scarves is that they are very versatile.  Celebs have been spotted wearing scarves not only around their necks, but also on their shoulders, around their heads, and around their waists as belts.  A scarf can actually make your waist look smaller if you drape it around your hips.  When worn on your head, a scarf can protect your hair from the dust and wind.

To be ready for any occasion, make sure you have fleece, pashmina, silk, and cashmere scarves in your wardrobe.  Pashmina, cashmere, and fleece scarves are ideal for wearing in the wintertime because they keep you very warm.  Silk scarves have a light, luxurious feel and are perfect for the spring or summer.  Silk scarves, however, cannot be tied around your head or waist because they slip off too easily.  Woven scarves made of raw silk boast rustic appeal and go great with any casual outfit.

This is my scarf fashion tip: a good friend of mine just came in a modeled her new “scarf” a snoop (I think that is what she called it??!!). It is a loop of thick fabric that can be worn as a scarf, as a head warmer, or as a combination of the two. It looked great… and very trendy!!

I now hold a stronger appreciation for scarves since I bought my first silk/cashmere scarf! It is silk lining on one side and cashmere on the other. It is light, elegant, and surprisingly warm!

It’s nice to see ladies wearing scarves in a more practical way. I don’t think any of us want to go back to the “9 to 5″ neck bows.

Yes, scarves are the easiest wardrobe story tellers. They can as you’ve mentioned spruce up a plain outfit.

    Scarves give the wearer “style.”

There is, of course, the story of Isadora Duncan who was famous for wearing scarves, one of which got caught in the back wheel of an auto she was traveling in and broker her neck.

So, as long as the scarves are well chosen, not worn at the wrong time or without a sense of style, they are perfect.

In cold regions, scarves give the cozy look. And, on warm evenings, a scarf of the proper material can be very fetching over more revealing outfits.

The leather which has been used in Designer bag is so nice and smooth.
Designer handbags are not the cheapest. which adds to their exclusivity.
They are made to the most exacting standards using the highest quality materials.
This extends the life of the bag which should give years of use and pleasure.

    Thanks

“Scarves are useful fashion items because they can add personality and pizazz to even the simplest of outfits” – maybe you are right. But I image men with scarves more then women.
    Why so?
Cos women have A LOT of accessories: biju, jewelleries, bags, stuffs for hair.
And men have a few detail: scarves, and some more..

A beautiful silk scarf can add glamor and chic sophistication to a simple shift dress, a classic crewneck sweater or your favorite blouse. A chunky wool or cashmere scarf can add a touch of warmth on a cold day and also dress up your look. Whichever scarf you choose, remember that there are many ways to tie a scarf. Play around and find the look that best suits your style.

I think initially scarf was popular for its use in religious acts and skin protections in humid and temperate countries. But later with the advent of designer varieties, it is being commercialized for female fashion definition.Irrespective of religion and people from all over the world are using it for various need in focus.I personally feel that scarf combined with goggles in the eye looks gorgeous and carry enough attitude also.obviously women’s dresses also matters a lot for the complete beauty package.

Interesting blog post about fashion and style particularly for scarves and on how to properly wear it. I like the different season – different fabric guide. The cashmere/pashmina for wintertime, silk scarves for summertime thing… I think it would be very good if you can also write about scarves and suits or scarves and formal attire.

With havin so much written content do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or copyright violation? My blog has a lot of unique content I’ve either authored myself or outsourced but it looks like a lot of it is popping it up all over the web without my agreement. Do you know any ways to help protect against content from being stolen? I’d certainly appreciate it.

Have you ever considered about adding a little bit more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is fundamental and everything. Nevertheless think of if you added some great images or video clips to give your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with images and videos, this website could definitely be one of the greatest in its field. Great blog!
